Food systems are prone to crises, for example due to extreme weather, diseases, crop failures, conflicts, and much more. The goal of this project is to increase the resilience of the region’s food systems and ability to tackle growing food insecurity. It is necessary to enhance existing networkes that enable information-sharing, connect stakeholders and share relevant knowledge.

The approach consists of several steps: First, data-sharing and information gathering shozld help to foster regional cooperation and to establish early warning systems and rapid response planning. In the medium- and long-term, resilient agricultural production, sustainable development of natural resources and expanding market access should be the focus of the programme.
