Governance of Extractives for Local Development & COVID-19 response Project

Start & End Date: 2021-2025

Country/Countries: Niger

Multilateral Institution(s) Involved: World Bank

The project development objective is to strengthen local governments’ capacity and extractive sector management for service delivery in the targeted regions. The lack of basic social services and state presense can lead to risks of conflict and high level of insecurity. Especially in the mining sector, social and economic tensions exist.

The project will strengthen and support the implementation of policies, laws and regulations on decentralization and sustainable extractive sector management. The project includes support to the COVID-19 response coordination mechanism at local level.
